About the Project

Packaging design for an album set for BTS, a South Korean band. The three albums, Purity, Growth, and Maturity, contain lyrics that speak on topics such as mental health, the toxic schooling system in Korea, loss, learning to love yourself, and individualism. The boxed set includes a booklet that contains an essay describing my relationship with BTS.

The flowers portray a different message according to each album. The white flowers represent how the members may seem at first glance: manufactured and a perfect embodiment of K-pop idols and their purity. The second album contains flowers that are no longer identical as the members speak about personal experiences. The third album has each flower different from each other, meaning each member has their own experiences that give themselves their own strong identity. The colors go from mundane to eccentric depicting their mental states. This project allowed me to explore the world of photography and how photo and type interact with each other.
